About The Bakery

The Bakery began with a simple conviction: that the best stories aren't manufactured, they're found. For over a decade we've been helping organisations find the people, moments, and truths inside their work that deserve to be heard. We're a strategic video communications company, but the work we do is older than that label. It's documentary filmmaking, applied to the kinds of complex challenges most agencies wouldn't know where to start with.

Meet The Team

Simon and Stacey are the team behind The Bakery. They've spent more than a decade making documentary-style films for organisations who need to be believed, not just seen.

Stacey is a writer, photographer and artist whose creative range shapes the way The Bakery sees the world. She produces every project from the inside out, holding the structure that lets the storytelling breathe. Clients tend to remember her for her care, her clarity, and her ability to make complex shoots feel calm.

Simon has spent more than fifteen years in documentary filmmaking, editorial leadership, and strategic communications. He works with government departments, infrastructure teams, and purpose-driven organisations navigating complex stakeholder situations — helping them find the story that will actually shift how their audiences think and feel. He started his career in broadcast journalism, which still shapes how he listens, how he asks questions, and what he looks for when the camera is rolling.

Our Story

We started in Byron Bay in 2014, built our name in Tasmania, and moved to Brisbane in late 2025. Tasmania taught us how to work with care in tight-knit communities. Brisbane is where we're applying that to bigger questions and more complex situations. We work nationally, wherever the story takes us.

How we got here

The Bakery began as a content studio, then grew into something harder to label. Over a decade of work in documentary, brand storytelling, and stakeholder communications taught us that the best video work isn't really about video at all. It's about earning the right to be heard. That's the work we do now: helping organisations in complex situations communicate with the rigour of the best commercial brands and the honesty of the best documentaries.

Who we work with

We work with government departments, infrastructure teams, not-for-profits, and purpose-driven private organisations. The common thread is rarely the sector. It's the situation. A community consultation that needs to be heard. An organisational change that needs to be understood. A complex project that needs the people inside it to speak for themselves. If that's where you are, we should talk.
